USAF Buildup at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia

USAF Buildup · Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia · 16× KC-135 Aerial Refueling Tankers · 6× E-3 AWACS Command and Control Aircraft

Major outlets including Axios, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post published reports claiming General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, warned Trump about serious risks of a military campaign against Iran — including prolonged conflict, high U.S. casualties, strained munitions stockpiles, and the potential for major regional escalation. Trump posted to Truth Social calling it all fake news and 100% incorrect. He praised Caine as a great fighter who led prior strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and said he believes any military action against Iran would be easily won. Some analysts are calling the leaks a deliberate disinformation campaign to keep Iran off balance and unsure of what Trump is actually planning.

Iran's Generals Are Threatening Back

IRGC commanders are making clear that any U.S. strike means U.S. bases across the Middle East get hit. General Hossein Daghighi and other officials are framing any attack as the beginning of a regional war. Iran has been running naval drills in the Strait of Hormuz, closing off areas temporarily, and repositioning missile units. Khamenei has made it plain that enrichment and ballistic missiles are non-negotiable. On top of that, Israeli Brigadier General Amir Avivi said there is a strong possibility Iran already has operational chemical and biological warheads fitted to its ballistic missiles — calling the threat far from theoretical.

Iran's Streets Are Still Burning

It is day four of new protests inside Iran. Students at Shahid University in central Tehran rallied with chants calling for the end of clerical rule. The economic crisis is fueling the unrest, and it is not slowing down.

"Until the mullah is buried, this homeland will not be a homeland. Don't stand aside, join us."

U.S. Troops Are Moving, Quietly

Hundreds of troops have been pulled from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — the largest U.S. base in the region with roughly 10,000 personnel — along with staff from Bahrain's 5th Fleet facilities. The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon evacuated dozens of staff through Beirut airport. The State Department issued a Do Not Travel warning for Lebanon. U.S. forces are also pulling back from a key Syrian base. At the same time, assets are pouring in elsewhere — fuel tankers, cargo planes, E-3 early warning aircraft, and fighters moving into Saudi bases. The USS Abraham Lincoln is in the Arabian Sea. The USS Gerald R. Ford was spotted yesterday at a naval base in Crete, about 600 miles from Israel's coast, headed to the theatre.

F-22s Are Headed East

Multiple F-22 Raptors from Langley Air Force Base staged through RAF Lakenheath in the UK in mid-February and are continuing eastward toward CENTCOM bases including Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti. They're being supported by refueling tankers. F-22s are built for contested airspace — suppressing air defenses — exactly what a strike on Iran would require. This is part of a broader surge that already includes F-35s and F-15Es in the region.

Refueling Tankers Land in Tel Aviv

Multiple U.S. KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. These planes exist to extend fighter range on long missions. The last time a similar tanker surge happened at Israeli airports was right before the 12-Day Israel-Iran War in 2025. Observers are not missing the parallel.

Netanyahu Warns Iran, Opposition Falls in Line

In a brief Knesset address on February 23, Netanyahu told Israelis they are facing "very complex and challenging days" and called for national unity. He warned Iran that attacking Israel would be perhaps the gravest mistake in their history, met with a response they cannot even imagine. Opposition leader Yair Lapid backed him fully, calling a military campaign a decent chance and pledging to advocate internationally for strong action against the ayatollahs. Reuters says Israel has reportedly warned through intermediaries that if Hezbollah enters the conflict, Beirut airport and civilian infrastructure in Lebanon are on the target list. Lebanese PM Nawaf Salam said Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri assured him Hezbollah would stay out. Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem has publicly said the opposite.

Bottom Line

Every major piece is moving at once — troops repositioning, aircraft surging eastward, carrier groups closing in, allies warning publicly while negotiators prepare for Thursday in Geneva. The question is no longer whether both sides are ready. The question is whether either side still has an exit. Watch the Iranian counterproposal and the Ford's arrival in theatre.
